The City Elite stroller offers modern luxury and comfort over any terrain. This all-terrain deluxe swivel wheel stroller is equipped with patented quick-fold technology with removable auto-lock to keep stroller closed when folded, accessory mounting bracket, a hand operated parking brake and 12" forever air quick-release wheels with sealed ball bearings, front wheel suspension and a swivel front wheel that can lock into place with the flip of a switch. The plush padded seat reclines to a near flat position in one step and features a vented seat top to increase airflow within the stroller and a retractable weather cover. Also featured is a large adjustable sun canopy with peek-a-boo windows and side ventilation panels that secure with magnets, an adjustable five-point safety harness with shoulder pads and buckle cover and a raised kicker that add leg support for smaller children. Parent conveniences include a multi-position adjustable handlebar, a soft handlebar console, a large under seat basket and a seat back storage compartment. I really love this stroller. I've been looking for an all-terrain stroller for a while, so I decided to stick with Baby Jogger (we own a City Mini as well) because I love the way they fold and the HUGE canopies. There are a few notable differences between the newer 2012 model and prior year models. 1) The bar in front of the basket has been lowered a bit, which is supposed to give better access but I can't say it makes too much of a difference. 2) No more racing stripe. The stroller is now solid color and comes in Red, Black, or Sand. I have the Sand and it's great. If you're worried about it showing the dirty, don't be. 3) New fabric. It's a much heavier weight fabric, like heavy-duty cloth. Definitely an improvement, in my opinion. 4) All black frame 5) Only one peek-a-boo window. As I write this, the Amazon product description states it has two peek-a-boo windows but I can confirm that it in fact only has the one. The window on the middle canopy panel is no longer there. I was pretty disappointed in this change, and can't figure out for the life of me why they would get rid of the extra window. (At least they didn't get rid of the side vent panels, though.) 6) The parent console includes 3 sections which serve as cup holders, but no longer includes any additional storage pockets.Overall, the 2012 model includes some nice upgrades and a couple of surprising (at least, to me) omissions.

I'll start by saying I'm a Baby Jogger fanatic. I've owned a 2009 City Elite Single, 2009 City Elite Double, 2011 City Mini Single, this 2012 City Elite Single (which I returned), and now a 2012 City Mini GT Single. I feel that they really missed the boat in this year's 2012 City Elite - in my opinion, it is a definite downgrade over years prior.I'll start with the 4 things I don't like about this current model:1. The "upgraded" fabric (which I hear is more like the City Select). It is a pain to try to keep clean. The prior year's fabric, just brushed things off in a second and you could wipe anything clean with a baby wipe in seconds! I spent a good 30 minutes trying to get crumbs out of this 2012 seat...I don't know how to explain it other then things just stick to it and are harder to get off. A stroller where kids may eat and drink should be made of something that can easily be wiped off, not heavy canvas. This was ultimately my biggest reason for returning this year's stroller.2. They took away the middle canopy window!!! :( I cannot figure out why they would do this - I used the middle canopy window the most out of the 2 windows. Now, the only time you can peek through the window is when the canopy is ALL the way forward. The problem with this is that when the canopy is all the way forward, no child can see out of it...you'd only put it all the way forward if they fell asleep or if its as raining or something. So basically, (as BJ told me), they figured most parents only wanted to peek in when baby/child was sleeping (which is when you'd have the canopy all the way down). This was a huge fail on their part as I liked being able to see down at my daughter at times when she wasn't sleeping. Just to name a few, when I'd have my headphones on and couldn't hear her well or if she was having a snack/drink.3. The straps. In 2011 and prior models, you used to be able to remove the shoulder straps so that it could just be a 3pt. harness. While a 5pt. harness is great for an infant, it makes an older toddler/preschooler feel very constrained. I loved on my old elite that I was able to remove the shoulder straps and my daughter would just be buckled across her lap. On this 2012 model, they've now sewn the shoulder straps to the rest of the straps and the only way to remove them is if you cut them off. I was able to get BJ send me an old pair of straps, so that if I wanted to cut them off I could, but I feel like this should 3pt. option should have been left as is.4. The parent console. In years prior, the parent console contained 3 open pockets (that you could fit drinks in) and a flap in front that had 3 smaller pockets. The flap with extra pockets was removed in this model, so there are now only 3 instead of 6. It's not a huge deal, but I did use the flap pockets to keep my phone and ID in. Just another example of the things they took away on this "upgraded" model.The only actual upgrade I saw in this 2012 model compared to my 2009 model is they added magnets to the footwell flap (although I didn't use it much anyways, magnets are better then velcro) and the automatic lock, which was never a huge issue to me anyways, but does make sense. I returned this 2012 elite and bought the 2012 Mini GT and am so pleased. I wish the GT had the magnetic windows and side vent of the elite, but for $50 less, it far surpasses this current model Elite! If you are set on an Elite, I would try to find a model from 2011 or prior. Hopefully they fix things in 2013 or at least bring all the positive elite features to the GT (magnetic windows, side vents, console).

We loved this stroller, though we didn't end up keeping it. Here is why: We actually had trouble finding this stroller in a store, therefore we ordered this, the BOB Revolution CE, and the Baby Jogger City Mini GT. After setting up all three, it turned out that this one was the largest - both in length and width. The features were incredible - including the foot lift, the pockets up by the push bar, and air vents on the side of the canopy. However, it was just too wide for what we were wanting. We wanted to be able to wheel through stores and the city with ease. We also wanted to have the folded stroller take up less space. If we had a larger car and a larger storage spot in our home, we would have kept this stroller. By the way, the wheels are SO easy to remove!Just so you know, the BOB Revolution CE was smaller once set up, but it was the most bulky of the three when folded up. Plus, the wheels need more maintenance and are more difficult to remove (not bad, but no where near as easy as the Baby Jogger wheels). Also, the BOB push bar was not adjustable - and since I'm only 5 feet, it was uncomfortably high!The Baby Jogger City Mini GT was the stroller we kept. It was smaller than the Elite and the BOB, but still had reasonable wheels for a good ride. It doesn't have all the features of the Elite, but still has the easy fold, the great large canopy, the easy recline and easy to remove wheels.All three had fairly small storage baskets - but they all had pockets in the back of the seat back. All had very smooth rides, though the BOB was probably the best.Okay, this was disorganized, but I hope it helped!
