Excellent Jogger For The Price - Great features

I am extremely happy with this stroller, I am an Engineer and I found it to be very well designed and constructed. It tracks perfectly straight with the front wheel locked in the fixed position, and does not pull to any side at all. The front wheel has absolutely no wobble, I have heard this complaint about swivel wheel strollers, but this one tracks perfectly. There is a nice feature that I haven't seen on other swivel wheel strollers, it has a lock/unlock release lever under the handle, so you can lock or release the front swivel wheel on the go, and not have to bend over and find the release above the swivel wheel like on other models. The cup holder and storage tray are great quality and have rubber tabs to hold drinks securely. The child tray swings out of the way to help getting children in and out. The quality of all materials used on the stroller are above what I expected, and what I have seen used on other strollers. The adjustable rubberized handle is great since I'm 6'-4" and my other children like to push the stroller sometimes as well. Storage basket underneath is ample and can be removed. Folding the stroller is easy, you grab (2) red finger tabs just forward of the handle and push the button on the right one, and it collapses easily. There is a swing bracket to hold it in the closed position. A common complaint is that joggers aren't small when folded, and this one is no different. Removing the rear wheels is simple. and the front one has a spin remover like a bicycle. Assembly was easy(it's 90% assembled in the box, only (4) small screws to attach the plastic protector above the swivel wheel, all other parts snapped in place including parent tray, child tray, and the rear wheels(you need to inflate the tires). Seat adjustment is simple with a locking tab and strap system that lets you coose any position in the strap range.My only complaint so far is when the faux lamb seat cover is in place, and my one year old daughter has a winter coat on, the permanent seat belts are snug, seat belt extensions are included that solve the problem, but increase the number of clips to get your child in and out. In the summer, I think this won't be an issue since the lamb seat cover and winter coat aren't needed, and the seat belt extensions won't be needed. The only other item I will note, but it's not one I care about, is there aren't pockets on the canopy, seatback, or stroller for misc. items like I have seen on other strollers. I did find (2) small pockets on either side of the stroller that hold the infant carrier straps when not in use.Some other information that may help you with your decision. First, this model is the same as the In-Step Grand Safari if you want to price compare. The main differences I saw are the wheel style, color scheme, and warranty. I went with the aluminum spoked wheels on the Schwinn vs. the molded 5 spoke wheels on the Grand Safari. Also the plastic parts are black on the schwinn vs. grey on Grand Safari. (I liked the black to help hide future scuffs) Also the canopy/seat color schemes are different. The Schwinn has a 5 year warranty and I believe the Grand Safari is 1 year. The Turismo and Grand Safari have the spring suspension on the rear wheels(you can zoom in on the photo and see the springs) that the lower In-Step models like the Safari do not have. The MP3 speaker is a single speaker, not stereo. The front of the seat under the legs is fixed and does not tiltdown, some other Schwinn strollers have tilt down, and this one does not(not an isssue). There is a small clear plastic rain visor built-in to the front of the canopy, that folds up under the front of the canopy when not in use. It is only a couple of inches wide, and I don't think it would be very helpful in the rain and I haven't had a need to try it yet. There is a clear viewing window in the top of the canopy with a velcro cover flap.Overall, I would definitely recommend this stroller to others.

Great stroller for gravel roads

I don't usually write reviews, but have so enjoyed this product I wanted to help others who may be trying to sort through the nerve racking process of deciding on a stroller! I ordered this stroller in August, after researching for a month, and I have used it nearly every day, walking with my son (born in July) on gravel roads. I wasn't sure how it could accomodate various car seats, but you set it in the stroller (back sets into child cup holder) then straps tighten it in. It works VERY well. I initially compared two other jogging strollers that were $100 more, and this one popped up the day I went to order. I'm very glad it did. We have taken this to an outdoor wedding, and we farm, so this works great on the gravel we walk on. The handle is adjustable - so great for tall and shorter. I am 5' 10" and the handle isn't all the way up for me. On windy days, I have pulled the stroller cover up to meet the car seat cover and he's been pretty protected. There really isn't anything I would change on this product. I have not used the swivel feature much- I am satisfied with the tire being straight. It is relatively easy to fold up- we can fit it into our car trunk (it's a tight fit), but with the tires this size, that's inevitable. I think it is well worth the money, given the increase usage you will get out of it.

A great jogging stroller for the price

We live in a rural area with very few paved roads so we knew that a regular stroller would not work for us. We borrowed an old style fixed wheel baby jogger from someone for a few months earlier this year and realized that while it worked fine we really wanted to buy something with more features. We don't run but like to walk, hike and jog. We searched for a jogging stroller that would recline, have better sun protection and be more manueverable for when we did go somewhere congested. Our budget was $200.00. We don't have many shopping options where we live so we had to do all of our research online and then one of the grandparents went to a big box baby store in their area to look at the ones we were considering and give us feedback. Since this is the only one I have had my hands on I will stick to telling you what we really like about this particular stroller and skip comparing it to other brands and models.We went with this Schwinn stroller because we thought it had several nice features that the others we shopped for in this price range were lacking. Our favorite is the large, fully adjustable sunshade. It ratchets foward and stays in the postion you place it in no matter how windy it is. We recently took a late afternoon walk, where our daughter fell asleep. We were able to recline the seat and when we turned toward the west we brought the canopy all the way down in the front to deflect the low angle sun and the wind. It also has a viewing window in the canopy that you can uncover to see how baby is doing. We like that the 5-point harness straps are padded and the fleece infant insert that came with the stroller helps postion her comfortably. Best of all it stays in place unlike one of those after market products we used in our loaner stroller that shifted or fell out everytime we picked the baby up or folded the stroller. Another big plus is that all of the parts that move and or adjust on this stroller are color coded in red. This makes it very easy to operate when you are still getting used to how everything works. It transitions easily from a free to a fixed front wheel with the red lever near the handle so you don't have to stop walking and crouch down in front of it. It operates very smoothly in both postions. I can easily steer this stroller one handed when I need to wrangle the dog with the other. We like that the child tray is removable for cleaning and that it pivots completly out of your way to make it easier to get the baby in and out. We like that the basket underneath is generously sized but does not get in the way of your stride and it has a rigid bottom. We also like that the parent tray cupholders have rubberized rims to keep your water bottle from bouncing out and there is a closed compartment to keep smalls things like keys and a cell phone safe. This stroller was very easy to assemble, we had it ready to roll in 10 minutes.Like most of the jogging type strollers we looked at it is heavier and bulkier to manuever in and out of the car than a normal stroller. We like that it has two well placed handles to grab when you are lifting it in and out of the vehicle. We usually lay it flat in the back of our wagon but we have also stood it upright when we need to make more room for other things.There are a few negatives. We have experienced a couple of flats. We have now upgraded to thorn resistant tubes with a liberal dose of tire slime. A bike shop in the area had everything we needed to do this for not much money. We also bought a mini pump that we strapped to the stroller frame, just in case, but we have not had anymore problems. The stroller provides the baby with a very smooth ride in rough terrain but it squeaks a bit. We can't decide if it is the shocks, the frame or both. It is not horrible but it is noticeable and a little annoying when you are on a quiet trail. We are going to try some lube to see if that helps. My husband has mentioned several times that he wishes this stroller had a hand brake. It rolls so smoothly that when you are moving down a hill it would be nice to be able to slow it down. There is a wrist strap to make sure it won't completly take off but it unerves him to think that it could slip out of his hands and he would have to reel her back in with the strap. There are two easy to use foot brakes located over each wheel that do secure it very firmly in place when you are stopped.The last issue is not a problem for us yet because our daughter is still quite young and small but more of a potential problem. The height of the footrest seems very close to seat. Given that the stroller is rated to be used for a pretty heavy child we bought it hoping this would take us from 6 months of age until she is done with a stroller altogether. Looking at it in person we have wondered if it will still be comfortable for her when she is taller. It looks like there will be plenty of room for her upper body but she will have to sit with her knees pushed way up in front of her or with her legs and feet dangling dangerously to the side of foot rest. If I knew someone with a 3 year old I would test this out but I don't so this is all conjecture at this point. Overall we like this stroller so much that we decided keep it and make the most of it until she outgrows it. If you are currently considering this stroller for use with an older child then I would strongly suggest a trip to a retailer to check out the fit.
