5great double stroller
By toddler + newborn needs double stroller
Reading reviews was very helpful to me when deciding to spend $700 for a double stroller... so I'm adding my 2 cents about the Baby Jogger City Select, hope it's helpful to someone.I have a 19 month old and a 2 month old - hence the need for the double. Also, our primary family vehicle is a Buick Enclave and we specifically wanted a stroller that would fit in the cargo area WITH the 3rd seat up. There's not a lot of space...I first looked at side-by-side doubles. These were nixed because of the weight difference between my kids. I tried many and even bought a cheap used one from Craigslist, but because of the 20 lb weight difference, no matter which ones I tried, they all pulled towards the side my 19 month old was sitting on. Even when I had the car seat adapter added and had the 2 month old and car seat, they all still pulled. This probably wouldn't have been an issue once the little one reaches a year and the weight difference is not so big. But I didn't want to have to compensate when pushing them around that long. Also, I took my $20 Craiglist find out and about and found that I really didn't like the "double wide" it was harder for me to navigate between aisles and cramped shopping places than a tandem. That led me to look at tandems. All of the inexpensive tandems, Gracco, Chicco, etc... are TANKS when folded. None would fit in the Enclave. So we started looking at high end strollers.I narrowed it down to the Phil & Teds, Britax B-Ready, and the BJ City Select.B-Ready would not fit in the Enclave w/o taking off the wheels and was still very big and heavy, so it was nixed.I read a lot and was also told by 2 different sales clerks that Phil & Teds wheels have problems with separation from the rims. Also with the car seat adapter, my older one would always have to sit in the rumble seat and the rumble seat only hold 33 lbs... my 19 month old is 32 lbs so he'd outgrow quickly and my new one would need to stay in the main seat.So we went with City Select, 2011, Amethyst. So far, I am loving my City Select and it was the right choice for us. I won't repeat all of the pros, but the major ones are:* Super easy to remove seats and fold then fits easily with room to spare in the Enclave* HUGE easily accessible storage basket - I love my storage basket and use it a lot.* Great handling and good turn radius* Purple color is still different and trendy but doesn't show stainsCons:* I bought the Parent Console accessory - seems to be useless. With 2 seats in place, you can't put a tall cup into it at all with the top seat reclined and even with top seat straight up, it's very tight. Don't waste the $30. There is a mesh pocket on the back of both seats, this works fine for keys, phone, beverage bottle etc. If you have to have a cup holder, get a cup holder attachment.* When my 19 month old is in front, I do feel the weight making it a little harder to make sharp turns. When my baby is a little older I plan to switch them and put her in front to see if this helps. When it's just the 19 month old as a single stroller, this is not a problem at all.I would very highly recommend this stroller. it is well worth the money. I wish I had bought it as my 1st stroller because I knew going into parenthood that I wanted my babies very close in age.Shop around. I purchased from Peppyparents.com. Free Shipping, no tax, and when I emailed them prior to purchase, I asked for any additional discounts and they gave 10%... that was $60 and enough to pay for the Chicco car seat adapter. I found that most places won't discount BJ products... seems this is a no-no from the manufacturer.

5Best stroller for twins, after much trial and error
By Justbooking
I have the Baby Jogger City Select with Second Seat and I love it. No stroller is perfect, but of the doubles I've had (Maclaren Twin Tecno, Maclaren Triumph and Bob Duallie), this is my go-to everyday stroller because it is the narrowest, goes anywhere and folds compactly. If I had to do it over, this probably would have been my only stroller - I just wish I had known about it before buying the others! All these strollers can be used with my 8-month old twins and with my 41" four year old preschooler but the City Select is the most useful one.PROS:* The City Select was named Baby Gizmo's 2010 Top Tandem stroller.* Goes anywhere - the reason I got it. I found out the hard way that side-by-sides do not fit between parked cars - the City Select does, with room to spare. This is the most important consideration when you're out and about with twins, so that you're not forced to leave one child alone in front of or behind your car while putting the other one in their car seat. The narrow width of the City Select has also been a huge advantage at doctor's offices, restaurants and stores that have narrower aisles.* Can be used from birth up. You can configure the City Select with optional Baby Jogger Car Seat Adaptor City Select, Single for one or two babies (three types sold, some car seats fit better than others) or with one or two seats (place the heaviest child in the top position); it can have stadium seating facing forward (with a huge storage basket), or you can put both seats facing you so they can recline fully @ 180 degrees (better for babies, looks like bunk beds).* The three-part canopies are excellent and provide far more shade than most Maclaren strollers. A zip-in mesh backing can be zipped in front for additional sun shade when the sun is low (though the instructions don't say this). A clear peek-a-boo window with built-in mesh for shade on top has a flap with quiet magnetic close.* Total weight load recommended for this stroller is 45 lbs per seat(combined passenger and baggage weight), so calculate 90 lbs total max allowance with two seats. Max allowance for the basket is 15 lbs and for each seat pocket, 2 lbs. My 14 m babies are 22 & 21 lbs, the diaper bag is 8 lbs = 51 lbs. Still way under the limit.* Optional carrycots are sold separately.* The wheels work on many surfaces. I've been able to use the City Select on narrow paths, dirt, snow and grass. The City Selects pushes very easily on smooth surfaces, even with my 32 lb son. In comparison, the Bob Revolution Duallie is superior off-road and feels lighter to push, but is way too long to use indoors in smaller spaces. The Techno Twin and Triumph handle very well on smooth surfaces but are impossible to use in snow.* Very compact fold. The City Select takes up half the trunk of my minivan, standing up, with all three rows up. If I need more space in back, I simply stash the stroller & seats in the second row of the minivan. In comparison, the Bob Duallie takes up 3/4 of the cargo area in the minivan. The Maclaren Techno takes up the whole width of cargo area, lying flat - it's too tall to place upright without it hitting the heads of people in the third row.* Huge storage basket - with the seats facing forward, the City Select has an enormous basket. I've been able to finally go grocery shopping with the twins and fit a fair amount of groceries underneath (max recommended is 15 lbs but I use the footwells for heavier items). When the seats are rear facing, storage is more limited but still usable. Zippers on all corners allow you to expand it and put in large items from the front, back or sides.* The hand break is very easy to use and with the rubber wheels in back, provides a sure grip.* The handle extends from 39" to 42" for taller parents. A Munchkin Stroller Hook, Colors May Vary can be placed on the handle to hold bags up to 8 lbs.* I'm able to fit two bouncy seats BABYBJÖRN BabySitter Balance, Brown/Beige or two KidCo GoPod Portable Activity Seat - Pistachio in the storage basket - the diaper bag hanging down from the Munchkin stroller hook keeps them secure. No other double I have can do this - great for playgroups or when I need to take the babies out of the stroller for any reason and am alone.* Many accessories - you can get many different ones but I found that stroller accessories from other manufacturers also work, at a fraction of the price.* JJ Cole Urban Toddler Bundle Me - Stealth fit these seats perfectly and can be used Spring & Fall - go with the toddler size which you'll use longer. LL Bean winter buntings work great in frigid winter weather. Fully reclined, the seats work like carrycots - my babies sleep very comfortably in them.* Baby Jogger is coming out with a ride-on board for a third child in March 2010 but, if needed, the seats are wide enough (12 inches) and the canopy high enough for my 41" oldest child. Both the canopies and the seats can be extended for older kids.* The "Baby Jogger City Select Second Seat Attachment Brackets" are sold separately if needed on mystrollers dot com. You do not have to buy the whole second seat.* As a sidenote, my husband did not think I needed this stroller and was quite mad when I got it. But yesterday, we did a two-cart BJs' run (4 boxes diapers, wipes, formula, groceries etc) and had ZERO room left in the back or anywhere else of the minivan, apparently. No problem - the two seats folded flat and went in the front passanger seat well. Wheels and second seat adaptors come off easily - those were tucked underneath the seats; the frame folded flat (26" x 21" x 9") and was tucked behind the second row. My hubby was stunned. All was forgiven.CONS:* The City Select can be hard to get up and down curbs - if you're pushing it forward; but if you pull it backwards up or down a curb, it's no harder that any other stroller (actually a bit easier because of the larger wheels in back). I've even brought it up and down stairs (empty of course).* The rain cover is not included. You can buy other brands that work though. For example, the universal Jeep rain shield fits each seat well or you can get a sngle cover for less from Sashas Kiddies Model BJCS Baby Jogger City Select Series Single Double Strollers Rain Cover (for use as a double).* This stroller is full-sized and not a good pick for public transportation unless there is handicapped access. I've yet to find a double I can carry down stairs with a baby though.* It takes about a minute to fold and put away, as you have to take each seat off. But after last night's BJs run, who cares! As a side note, the 2010 model costs much less than the 2011 model, which has been slightly redesigned with a firmer back and a deeper seat.

2Inefficeint, Designed Poorly
By Tony
I have this double stroller as well as a 2010 Uppababy Vista.I am reviewing this strictly as a Double stroller:The City select is wide and heavy. The seats arent the greatest, though it is an improvement from the previous year with some support rather than free form like a hammock.Folding it is easy after you remove the seats, keping it folded when transporting however is a different story, it just tends to unfold on its own. The clasp is pathetic. The seat belts and the adjustment design is poor, it is hard to fit a little one in the seats, until they are of a certain size (my youngest daughter is 11 months old and of normal size but the belts still dont fit). Also, the placement of the hook anchor is too narrow and is directly impacting the comfort of the child once they are of size. Also, you will find that as many "configurations" as this has, that it is impossible to utilize them. Physically, its very hard to utilize the configurations because there is simply not enough space. Once the kis are old enough to be strapped correctly, they will be too big to sit in these things. The only way that kids can sit somewhat comfortably is if they are both facing opposite directions, though you wont be able to recline them.MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT, and a huge design flaw is the handle bar. The cheap rubber surface which tends to feel sticky....but, what irks me about this stroller is the shape of the handle. Its flat. Imagine riding a bike with a flat bar, not round or tube, just flat. This fixed design forces the users wrist to confrom to the flat surface. Another example, imagine a steering wheel with a flat surface. When steering or turning with two children, it places most of the pressure on the wrists. Its a pro-carpal tunnel waiting to happen. Not only is the surface flat, its not like you can change the angle of the flatness. For flat areas, I would assume this is acceptable but when turning or going up and down hills or curbs with both children, good luck. You will find that with a day if lots of turns and inclines, that your neck and shoulder will tend to hurt (good way of knowing which side of your body you tend to use more unevenly if that helps). If youre truly looking for an efficient double stroller, this is not it. If youre looking for one considered trendy and cool, perhaps this is the one. If you have twins, this may work for you (just not the most efficient). I highly rec. the tray, its good for keeping your child in the seat (we use only one on the seat below for the older girl, since having one on each leaves very little room and almost impossible to get baby in and out conveniently). I tend to see younger first time parents with stroller overkill syndrome (like we were), while more experienced parents tended to use more efficient ones.
